Regular Season Round 4: Statyba - ABRO-Univ. 87-81

There was no surprise in Vilnius where 14th ranked ABRO-Universitetas (1-3) was defeated by fourth ranked Statyba (3-1) 87-81 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But ABRO-Universitetas won third quarter 23-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Statyba looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Guard Mindaugas Budzinauskas (198-73) fired 13 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Center Vitalijus Luksa (206-86) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. Statyba's coach Gintautas Regina used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Julius Jucikas (205-89) produced 27 points, 5 rebounds and 5 blocks (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and guard Aridas Kurauskas (184-92) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists respectively for lost side. Five Statyba and four ABRO-Universitetas players scored in double figures. Statyba keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. ABRO-Universitetas lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth place with three games lost. Statyba will face S.Marciulionio (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. ABRO-Universitetas will play against Matinga-Juod. (#5).
