Everything could happen in Coimbra at the game between two tied teams. Both leader Lusitania and bottom-ranked Sampaense had identical 0-0 record. But Sampaense was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Angra 61-56 on Saturday night. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Sampaense won third quarter 18-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lusitania (1-0) keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Sampaense still closes the standings with one game lost. Lusitania will face Ginasio (#10) in Figueira da Foz in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sampaense will play at home against Terceira Basket in Angra Heroismo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
