Regular Season Round 5: Karlsruhe - NBC 85-75

There was a small surprise when fifteenth ranked BG Karlsruhe (1-4) won against at home 13th ranked NBC (1-4) 85-75 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by BG Karlsruhe. NBC was better in fourth quarter 31-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BG Karlsruhe had a 29-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. NBC was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Rouven Roessler (200-80) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 5 rebounds. American center Justin Howard (208-81, college: Mercer) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Five BG Karlsruhe players scored in double figures. American power forward Cory Abercrombie (201-85, college: Independence CC) answered with 23 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Cornelius Adler (195-89) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for NBC. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. BG Karlsruhe left bottom position moving up to thirteenth place, which they share with defeated NBC. BG Karlsruhe will face higher ranked Saar-Pfalz Braves (#10) in Homburg in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
