Regular Season Round 5: Weissenhorn - Dragons 76-112

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked BG Illertal/Weissenhorn (0-5) was outplayed at home by ninth ranked Dragons Rhoendorf (2-2) 112-76 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Dragons Rhoendorf. BG Illertal/Weissenhorn was better in fourth quarter 26-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Dragons Rhoendorf made 26-of-32 free shots (81.3 percent) during the game. Dragons Rhoendorf outrebounded BG Illertal/Weissenhorn 39-26 including 25 on the defensive glass. BG Illertal/Weissenhorn was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Nick Larsen (187-83) stepped up and scored 25 points and 6 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners and Canadian guard Stuart Turnbull (188-84, agency: Numbers Sports Agency) chipped in 25 points and 5 rebounds. Four Dragons Rhoendorf players scored in double figures. Dragons Rhoendorf's coach Eric Detlev felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Croatian center Mirko Soyer (212-78) responded with 28 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Harlan Fuller (185-88, college: Molloy) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Dragons Rhoendorf moved-up to sixth place in Group South. Loser BG Illertal/Weissenhorn still closes the standings with five games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
