There was a small surprise when tenth ranked New Yorker Phantoms (2-2) edged 7th ranked EWE Baskets (2-2) in Oldenburg 90-88 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 90-88. New Yorker Phantoms shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 57.7 percentage. It was a very good performance for American guard Immanuel McElroy (193-80, college: Cincinnati) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Guard Robert Kulawick (191-86, agency: Pro One Sports) contributed with 19 points for the winners. New Yorker Phantoms' coach Sebastian Machowski used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Ronald Burrell (204-83, college: NC-Greensboro, agency: Pro One Sports) replied with 24 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Bobby Brown (188-84, college: Cal.St. Fullerton, agency: Priority Sports) added 19 points and 6 assists in the effort for EWE Baskets. New Yorker Phantoms moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated EWE Baskets. New Yorker Phantoms will face league's second-placed Brose Baskets in Bamberg in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
