Regular Season Round 2: Geoplin Slovan - Helios 85-92

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Geoplin Slovan (1-1) against top-ranked Helios (1-0) on Tuesday night. Host Geoplin Slovan was defeated by Helios in a tough game in Ljubljana 85-92. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The guests were already 11 points ahead at halftime and as many as 20 after three quarters before a 34-21 last quarter charge of Geoplin Slovan cut the lead to 92-85 at the end of the game. Helios made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Helios especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 60.0 percentage. Geoplin Slovan was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Klemen Prepelic (191-92) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 7 assists (perfect from downtown making all five shots). Center Blaz Cresnar (214-86, agency: TSS Management) contributed with 15 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Cresnar is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Forward Marko Pajic (204-92) replied with 21 points and 9 rebounds and international point guard Luka Rupnik (184-93) added 17 points and 7 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) in the effort for Geoplin Slovan. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. It was the only win of guest team this round and in all other games host teams recorded victories. Helios left bottom position moving up to second place, which they share with Zlatorog. Geoplin Slovan at the other side dropped to the fourth position with one game lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Helios will play against Maribor Messer (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Geoplin Slovan will play against Sentjur (#7) to get more than just one victory in their record.
