Regular Season Round 5: BC Odessa - Azovmash 76-90

Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked BC Odessa (2-3) was defeated at home by second ranked Azovmash (4-1) 90-76 on Tuesday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 90-76. Azovmash made 19-of-20 free shots (95.0 percent) during the game. Strangely BC Odessa outrebounded Azovmash 37-25 including 24 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Daniel Ewing (191-83, college: Duke, agency: Alti Sport) who scored 23 points and 4 assists. His fellow American import swingman Ricky Minard (196-82, college: Morehead St.) chipped in 17 points and 5 assists. Azovmash's coach Aco Petrovic used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American-Bulgarian point guard Willie Deane (188-80, college: Purdue, agency: Higher Vision Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and Vincentian center Shawn King (208-82, college: ORU) added 21 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Azovmash have a solid series of four victories in a row. Despite that victory Azovmash went down to third position due to points difference, which they share with Ferro-ZNTU. Loser BC Odessa dropped to the eighth place with three games lost. Azovmash will have a break next round. BC Odessa will play at home against the league's second-placed Budivelnyk (#2) in Kyiv.
