The game had a very big importance for second-ranked BSV Wulfen as it allowed them to take a leadership position. BSV Wulfen defeated 10th ranked Herzoege Wolfenbuettel at home 81-72. The hosts trailed by 13 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 9 points. 24 personal fouls committed by Herzoege Wolfenbuettel helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard Steve Briggs (178-85, college: Okla.Wesleyan) who scored 21 points and 4 assists. The other American import forward Dijon Smith (203-89, college: Ft.Hays State) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Dennis Nawrocki (190-92) who recorded 15 points and American guard Derrick Stevens (180-80, college: Colorado St.) added 11 points and 5 assists respectively. BSV Wulfen have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel at the other side dropped to the ninth place with four games lost. They share the position with Rist Wedel. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel will play next round against strong SC Rasta Vechta trying to get back on the winning streak.
