Regular Season Round 1: Rilski Sportist - Slavia 74-71

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Slavia (0-1) in Samokov on Wednesday night. Visitors were edged by Rilski Sportist (1-0) 74-71. It was a key game for the top position in the league as both teams had the same 0-0 record before this meeting. Slavia was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Slavia 49-25 including a 18-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. American center Anne Farrell (187-88, college: Centenary) fired a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Guard Veronika Djikova (180-90) chipped in 7 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists. Four Rilski Sportist players scored in double figures. Slavia at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. They share the position with Levski and Neftochimic. Rilski Sportist is looking forward to face Montana 2003 (#4) on the road in the next round. Slavia will play against Neftochimic in Burgas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
