Regular Season Round 5: Khimik - Azovmash 86-70

Undefeated Azovmash (4-1) recorded its first loss in Yuzhny on Thursday night. Visitors were defeated by sixth ranked Khimik (4-2) 86-70. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Azovmash. The game was mostly controlled by Khimik. Azovmash managed to win third quarter 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Khimik looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Reyshawn Terry (203-84, college: N.Carolina) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward Aaron McGhee (203-79, college: Oklahoma) chipped in 21 points. The former international center Oleksiy Pecherov (213-85) produced 11 points and 8 rebounds and Montenegrin-Serbian center Vladimir Golubovic (213-86) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Khimik and five Azovmash players scored in double figures. Azovmash's coach Aco Petrovic rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Khimik moved-up to fifth place, which they share with BC Kyiv. Azovmash at the other side dropped to the third position with one game lost. They share it with Ferro-ZNTU. Khimik is looking forward to face league's second-placed Budivelnyk in Kyiv in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Azovmash will have a break next round.
