The game in Chemnitz was also quite interesting. Third ranked Cuxhaven BasCats (4-1) played at the court of 7th ranked BV Chemnitz 99 (3-3). Cuxhaven BasCats managed to secure a 9-point victory 83-74 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 13-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-74. Cuxhaven BasCats dominated on the defensive end, holding BV Chemnitz 99 to just 4 points in second quarter. They made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Jackson Capel (191-87, college: Evangel) who scored 31 points and 5 steals. The other American import swingman Quinnel Brown (198-83, college: Auburn) chipped in 12 points. Cuxhaven BasCats keep a position of league leader, which they share with Webmoebel and MBC. BV Chemnitz 99 at the other side dropped to the eighth place with three games lost. They share the position with Jena and Braves. Cuxhaven BasCats will meet at home USC Heidelberg (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. BV Chemnitz 99 will play against Webmoebel Baskets in Paderborn and hope to secure a win.
