Regular Season Round 6: Crailsheim - Kirchheim 83-77

There was a change at the ProA leadership position after last games. Round 6 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Kirchheim Knights (4-2). They were defeated by eighth ranked Crailsheim Merlins (4-2) 83-77 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Kirchheim Knights. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-12. But Kirchheim Knights won third quarter 23-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Crailsheim Merlins made 24-of-27 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Kirchheim Knights helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Americans were the main players on the court. Guard Mark Hill (180, college: Cal.St. Northridge) scored 22 points and 8 assists (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and forward Darryl Webb (198-88, college: Indiana, PA, agency: Pro One Sports) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Ahmad Smith (194-84, college: St.Bonaventure) with 14 points and 9 rebounds and guard Cedric Brooks (185-80, college: Pittsburg St.) scored 16 points and 4 assists. Crailsheim Merlins moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Duesseldorf and Kirchheim. Kirchheim Knights will play next round against Ehingen/Urspringschule trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Crailsheim Merlins will try to continue on its current victory against fourteenth ranked BG Karlsruhe on the road.
