Regular Season Round 6: MBC - Leitershofen 97-75
Date: October 22, 2011
Bottom-ranked Leitershofen (0-5) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their fifth consecutive match to fourth ranked Mitteldeutscher BC (4-1) 97-75. The game was mostly controlled by Mitteldeutscher BC. Leitershofen was better in fourth quarter 22-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mitteldeutscher BC made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Power forward Steve Wachalski (203-83) notched 23 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and American guard Darius Hargrove (193-82, college: Virginia Union, agency: Strategic Sports) supported him with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four Mitteldeutscher BC players scored in double figures. Mitteldeutscher BC's coach Silvano Poropat felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 18 points by American guard Skyler Bowlin (190-89, college: Missouri So., agency: Warren Sports International) did not help to save the game for Leitershofen. His fellow American import guard Corey Hassan (193-87, college: Sacred Heart) added 11 points and 6 rebounds. Mitteldeutscher BC keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Webmoebel and Cuxhaven. Newly promoted Leitershofen still closes the standings with five games lost. Mitteldeutscher BC will play against ETB Wohnbau (#13) in Essen in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Leitershofen will play on the road against Science City Jena and hopes to get finally their first victory.
