Regular Season Round 7: SU Medien - Wulfen 88-70

ProB round 7 caused change at the leadership position. Second defeat of league's leader BSV Wulfen (5-2) against fourth ranked Spot Up Medien Baskets (5-2) 88-70 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of BSV Wulfen. It was a key game for the top position in Group North. The game was mostly controlled by Spot Up Medien Baskets. BSV Wulfen managed to win fourth quarter 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Spot Up Medien Baskets dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to BSV Wulfen's 30. Spot Up Medien Baskets forced 19 BSV Wulfen turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Dennis Schroeder (186-93) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 5 rebounds. Center Daniel Theis (207-92) contributed with 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Spot Up Medien Baskets players scored in double figures. American guard Steve Briggs (178-85, college: Okla.Wesleyan) answered with 19 points and 7 assists and the other American import forward Dijon Smith (203-89, college: Ft.Hays State) added 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks in the effort for BSV Wulfen. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Spot Up Medien Baskets have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of Group North leader, which they share with Wulfen. BSV Wulfen will play next round against SSV Lok Bernau trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Spot Up Medien Baskets will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
