Very expected game when 14th ranked Balikesir (1-3) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Pamukkale (3-1) 83-71 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 14 points after first quarter, but they stormed back getting tie in the second period and winning the second half and won the game by 12 points. Pamukkale shot 34 for 46 from the free-throw line, while Balikesir only scored fourteen points from the stripe. Pamukkale forced 20 Balikesir turnovers and outrebounded them 34-21 including 23 on the defensive glass. Balikesir was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Matthew Pilgrim (203-87, college: Oklahoma St., agency: KMG Sports Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds and guard Goekhan Senol (183-84) who added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. At the losing side American forward Charles Jackson (203-87, college: Hawaii-Pacific, agency: Court Side) responded with 16 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Orbay Kaya (205-82) scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. Four Balikesir players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pamukkale moved-up to third place, which they share with 4 other teams. Balikesir at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourteenth position with three games lost. Pamukkale will face Usak (#6) on the road in the next round. Balikesir will play against Pertevniyal (#18) in Istanbul.
