A very interesting game took place in Vilnius. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 9th ranked Sakalai (1-4) to top-ranked Siauliai (4-0) 75-72 on Wednesday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Sakalai was ahead by 5 points after three quarters before a 23-15 charge of Siauliai, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 19 Sakalai turnovers. It was a very good performance for American-Samoan point guard Rashaun Broadus (183-84, college: BYU) who helped to win the game recording 28 points. Center Vytautas Sarakauskas (204-82) contributed with 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Siauliai's coach Antanas Sireika allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Center Paulius Joneliunas (211-84, college: American) replied with 13 points and 6 rebounds and forward Arnas Butkevicius (199-92) added 10 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Sakalai. Siauliai have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Sakalai at the other side keeps the ninth place with four games lost. Siauliai's next round opponent will be Juventus (#6) in Utena where they are favorite. Sakalai will play at home against Baltai Kaunas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
