Regular Season Round 4: Pertevniyal - Akhisar Bld 69-82

Very expected game in Istanbul where 16th ranked Pertevniyal (1-3) was defeated by top-ranked Akhisar Bld (4-0) 82-69 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Akhisar Bld. Pertevniyal was better in second period 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pertevniyal was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Tyrone Nelson (206-85, college: N.Mexico St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds and guard Levent Demirci (190-76) who added 5 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. At the losing side Burak Can responded with 12 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Soykan Yikilmaz (185-92) scored 11 points and 5 assists. Five Pertevniyal players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Akhisar Bld have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record, which they share with Genc Telekom. Pertevniyal at the other side dropped to the fourteenth place with three games lost. Akhisar Bld will face Darussafaka (#10) in Istanbul in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Pertevniyal will play on the road against Balikesir (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
