Regular Season Round 3: Helios - Maribor Messer 82-67

No shocking result in a game when leader Helios (2-0) beat 8th ranked Maribor Messer (1-2) in Domzale 82-67. It looked good early as Maribor Messer took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Helios had a 23-7 second period charge getting the lead and Maribor Messer was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 67-82. Helios dominated on the defensive end, holding Maribor Messer to just 7 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Maribor Messer 36-23 including a 27-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Croatian forward Drazen Bubnic (207-86) who scored 22 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Croatian power forward Drago Pasalic (208-84) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Jure Pelko (190-90) who recorded 13 points and guard Bojan Jovanovic (186-82) added 10 points respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Helios moved-up to second place, which they share with Zlatorog. Maribor Messer at the other side dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. Helios' next round opponent will be league's leader Elektra in Sostanj and it will be for sure the game of the week. Maribor Messer will play at home against Sentjur (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
