Regular Season Round 8: Naestved - Vaerlose 95-88

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Naestved (5-3) beat at home 8th ranked Vaerlose (2-6) 95-88 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 95-88. Naestved made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Vaerlose turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Naestved especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. Vaerlose was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Corin Henry (180-88, college: Tarleton St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 9 steals. The former international power forward Peter Johansen (205-80) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Five Naestved players scored in double figures. Forward Mads Rasmussen (191-86) replied with 40 points (!!!) and American forward Adam Wire (195, college: Cornell) added 7 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals in the effort for Vaerlose. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Naestved moved-up to third place, which they share with Horsholm. Vaerlose at the other side keeps the eighth position with six games lost. Naestved will face league's leader Svendborg on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Vaerlose will play against Horsens IC (#7) in Horsens and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
