Regular Season Round 3: Turk Telekom - Besiktas 88-97

Very significant was Besiktas' (#2) 97-88 road victory against 6th ranked Turk Telekom. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Turk Telekom. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Turk Telekom won third quarter 25-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Turk Telekom was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Marcelus Kemp (196-84, college: Nevada, agency: SportsTalent) who led the winners and scored 25 points and 7 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Deron Williams (191-84, college: Illinois) accounted for 23 points and 8 assists for the winning side. Four Besiktas players scored in double figures. Besiktas' coach Ergin Ataman allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. FYR Macedonian-American guard Darius Washington (188-85, college: Memphis) came up with 29 points, 6 assists and 4 steals and the former international power forward Mehmet Okur (210-79) added 18 points and 13 rebounds respectively for Turk Telekom in the defeat. Besiktas have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Turk Telekom at the other side dropped to the fifth place with one game lost. They share the position with Tofas and Mersin. Besiktas will play against Fenerbahce Ulker (#3) in Istanbul in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Turk Telekom will play on the road against Karsiyaka and hopes to get back on the winning track.
