Regular Season Round 8: Ezerunas-Karys - Silute 84-81

There was a minor upset when higher ranked Silute (4-4) was edged by twelfth ranked Ezerunas-Karys (4-4) in Moletai 84-81 on Saturday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Ezerunas-Karys dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Silute's 26. Ezerunas-Karys forced 22 Silute turnovers and outrebounded them 38-27 including 25 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Forward Raimondas Ambrulaitis (199-82) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). Guard Paulius Lescinskas (188-93) contributed with 24 points and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the winners. Guard Evaldas Jurkus (190-84) replied with 24 points and swingman Andrius Cizikas (197-88) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Silute. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ezerunas-Karys moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Silute. Ezerunas-Karys will face Perlas-MRU (#7) in Vilnius in the next round.
