Regular Season Round 5: Maliye Milli - Baskent Genclik 93-78

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Baskent Genclik (1-4) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Maliye Milli (3-2) 93-78 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Maliye Milli. Baskent Genclik was better in fourth quarter 28-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Baskent Genclik was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American power forward Arthur Johnson (206-81, college: Missouri) stepped up and scored 17 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners and forward Sinan Mustafa Karamanlier (202-84) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Five Maliye Milli players scored in double figures. Forward Recai Ozturk (198-82) responded with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and American center Marquise Gray (206-86, college: Michigan St.) scored 20 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Maliye Milli moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Optimum TED and Pamukkale. Baskent Genclik lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixteenth position with four games lost. Maliye Milli will face Pamukkale (#9) on the road in the next round. Baskent Genclik will play against Optimum TED (#8) in Ankara.
