Regular Season Round 7: Jena - Leitershofen 96-73

Bottom-ranked Leitershofen (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 96-73 loss to eighth ranked Science City Jena (4-3) in Jena on Saturday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Science City Jena. Leitershofen managed to win third quarter 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Science City Jena made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for Canadian guard Tyler Kepkay (183-87, college: Utah, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points. Science City Jena's coach Georg Eichler felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American guard Corey Hassan (193-87, college: Sacred Heart) responded with 30 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import forward Logan Stutz (205-88, college: Washburn, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Science City Jena maintains eighth place with 4-3 record. Newly promoted Leitershofen still closes the standings with six games lost. Science City Jena will meet Saar-Pfalz Braves (#11) in the next round. Leitershofen will play against ETB Wohnbau (#13) in Essen and hopes to get finally their first victory.
