No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Crailsheim Merlins (5-2) defeated on the road 14th ranked BG Karlsruhe (1-6) 104-94 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 14-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 104-94. BG Karlsruhe was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Mark Hill (180, college: Cal.St. Northridge) fired 26 points and 6 assists for the winners. Naturalized American forward Joseph Buck (201-81, college: USC) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Crailsheim Merlins players scored in double figures. Crailsheim Merlins' coach Ingo Enskat allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Rouven Roessler (200-80) produced 35 points (!!!) and American center Justin Howard (208-81, college: Mercer) added 26 points and 12 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) respectively for lost side. Crailsheim Merlins moved-up to third place, which they share with Kirchheim. BG Karlsruhe at the other side keeps the fourteenth position with six games lost. Crailsheim Merlins will face NBC (#9) in Nurnberg in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. BG Karlsruhe will play on the road against Ehingen/Urspringschule (#12) in Allmendingen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
