Regular Season Round 8: Wulfen - Bernau 97-83

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked BSV Wulfen as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Group North. BSV Wulfen defeated bottom-ranked SSV Lok Bernau at home 97-83. The game was mostly controlled by BSV Wulfen. SSV Lok Bernau managed to win fourth quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BSV Wulfen made 18-of-19 free shots (94.7 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Dijon Smith (203-89, college: Ft.Hays State) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points, 16 rebounds and 6 blocks (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and the other American import guard Steve Briggs (178-85, college: Okla.Wesleyan) who added 31 points and 4 steals during the contest. BSV Wulfen's coach Thorsten Morzuch used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Martinis Woody (201-82, college: Benedict) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and forward Sebastian Trzcionka (197-79) scored 30 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. SSV Lok Bernau at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. SSV Lok Bernau will play next round against Bayer Giants trying to get back on the winning streak. BSV Wulfen will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Hertener Loewen at home.
