Important game to mention about took place in Kyiv. Fifth ranked Budivelnyk (6-1) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 5th ranked Azovmash (6-2) 80-77 in the fight for the second place. The hosts were already 16 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 28-15 Azovmash's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 80-77 at the end of the game. Budivelnyk made 16-of-18 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Azovmash turnovers. Strangely Azovmash outrebounded Budivelnyk 34-21 including 26 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by American point guard Jack McClinton (185-85, college: Miami, FL) who scored that evening 27 points and 4 steals and the other American import forward Zach Morley (203-83, college: Wisconsin) supported him with 14 points. Budivelnyk's coach Zvezdan Mitrovic allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 18 points, 6 assists and 4 steals by American guard Daniel Ewing (191-83, college: Duke, agency: Alti Sport) did not help to save the game for Azovmash. The former international center Oleksiy Pecherov (213-85) added 18 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Azovmash at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with Ferro-ZNTU. Budivelnyk will play against DniproAzot (#12) in Dniprodzerzhynsk in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Azovmash will have a break next round.
