Regular Season Round 3: TED Ankara - Botas 70-93

Undefeated Optimum TED (2-1) recorded its first loss in Ankara. Hosts were rolled over by tenth ranked Botas (1-2) 93-70. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Optimum TED. It looked good early as Optimum TED took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Botas had a 24-15 second period charge getting the lead and Optimum TED was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 70-93. Botas dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Optimum TED's 36. It was a good game for American center Courtney Paris (193-87, college: Oklahoma) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds. Her fellow American import forward Monica Wright (180-88, college: Virginia, agency: LBM Management) contributed with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winners. Five Botas players scored in double figures. The former international forward Gulsah Akkaya (181-77) answered with 14 points and American guard Erin Thorn (178-81, college: BYU) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Optimum TED. Optimum TED's coach Deryan Ozyer gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Botas left bottom position moving up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Optimum TED dropped to the third position with one game lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Botas will play against higher ranked Kayseri (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Optimum TED will play against Istanbul Universitesi in Istanbul and hopes to get back on the winning track.
