Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked SG Schwelmer Baskets and 8th ranked Herzoege Wolfenbuettel had identical 3-5 record. This time SG Schwelmer Baskets used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Wolfenbuettel 87-80 on Saturday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-21. But Herzoege Wolfenbuettel won second period 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. SG Schwelmer Baskets made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. American guard Derrick Stevens (180-80, college: Colorado St.) replied with 19 points and 4 assists and forward Nils Staebe (201-88) added 15 points in the effort for Herzoege Wolfenbuettel. Five SG Schwelmer Baskets and four Herzoege Wolfenbuettel players scored in double figures. SG Schwelmer Baskets (4-5) moved-up to eighth place in Group North. Loser Herzoege Wolfenbuettel dropped to the tenth position with six games lost. SG Schwelmer Baskets will face league's second-placed Hertener Loewen on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel will play against Spot Up Medien Baskets (#3) in Braunschweig.
