There was a surprise result when tenth ranked BV Chemnitz 99 (4-4) beat at home higher ranked Gloria Giants (4-3) 58-54 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 58-54. American point guard Gary Johnson (188-82, college: Cent.Florida) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import power forward Ty Shaw (202-79, college: Albertson) contributed with 8 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American guard Aubrey Reese (183-78, college: Murray St., agency: Interperformances) replied with 8 points and 9 rebounds and naturalized Croatian guard Marin Petric (190-80) added 6 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Gloria Giants. Gloria Giants' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. BV Chemnitz 99 moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Jena and Braves. Loser Gloria Giants keep the sixth position with three games lost. BV Chemnitz 99 will face higher ranked Kirchheim Knights (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
