Regular Season Round 3: Oliveirense - Maia Basket 78-52

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Oliveirense (2-1) crushed at home bottom-ranked Maia Basket (0-3) 78-52. The game was mostly controlled by Oliveirense. Maia Basket was better in second period 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Oliveirense dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Maia Basket's 24. They outrebounded Maia Basket 51-22 including a 20-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Deantre Jefferson (203-88, college: Chattanooga) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 17 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Spencer Johnson (198-87, college: UMKC) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Oliveirense moved-up to third place, which they share with Electrico FC and Galitos-Tley. Maia Basket at the other side still closes the standings with three games lost. Oliveirense's next round opponent will be Angrabasket (#7) on the road. Maia Basket will play against Fisica (#10) in Torres Vedras and hopes to get finally their first victory.
