Regular Season Round 4: Balkan - Rilski Sportist 62-84

Round 4 most important game was a victory of Rilski Sportist over one of their biggest challengers Balkan 84-62 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Rilski Sportist. Balkan managed to win fourth quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Balkan to just 6 points in second quarter. Rilski Sportist made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Rilski Sportist had a 36-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian guard Branko Mirkovic (190-82, agency: Global Sports Plaza) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Serbian power forward Filip Vukosavljevic (205-83) contributed with 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American power forward Isiah Martin (203-89, college: Indiana St.) replied with 17 points and 6 rebounds and forward Kiril Raykov (196-87) added 13 points in the effort for Balkan. Rilski Sportist (2-2) moved-up to third place, which they share with Cherno More and Tundja Yambol. Balkan at the other side dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Spartak Pleven and Chernomorets. Rilski Sportist is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Spartak Pleven (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Balkan will play against Euroins Cherno More in Varna and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
