There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Sakalai (2-5) beat on the road 8th ranked Kedainiai (1-4) 73-65 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 25-13 charge, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for forward Evaldas Baniulis (201-87, college: S.Carolina) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Swingman Virginijus Sirvydis (196-73) contributed with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American forward David McClure (198-86, college: Duke) replied with 8 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and his fellow American import point guard Chris Lowe (182-87, college: Massachusetts) added 16 points in the effort for Kedainiai. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sakalai moved-up to eighth place. Loser Kedainiai dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. Sakalai will face bottom-ranked Naglis Palangos (#12) in Palanga in the next round. Kedainiai will play at home against Baltai Kaunas.
