Regular Season Round 9: Khimik - BC Donetsk 74-77

Important game to mention about took place in Yuzhny. First ranked BC Donetsk (8-3) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 6th ranked Khimik (6-5) 77-74 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It looked good early as Khimik took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then BC Donetsk had a 25-14 second period charge getting the lead and Khimik was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 74-77. Khimik was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The game was dominated by American players. It was a good game for guard Ramel Curry (192-80, college: CSU Bakersfield) who led his team to a victory with 20 points. Forward Michael Lee (207-86) contributed with 10 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Forward Reyshawn Terry (203-84, college: N.Carolina) answered with 17 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Darrel Mitchell (181-84, college: LSU, agency: Beo Basket) added 15 points and 6 assists in the effort for Khimik. Five Khimik players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. BC Donetsk have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-3 record. Khimik at the other side dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. BC Donetsk will play against Azovmash (#4) in Mariupol in the next round. Khimik will play on the road against Ferro-ZNTU in Zaporozhye and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
