There was a minor upset when top-ranked Dorsten (6-3) was outscored at home by seventh ranked Hertener Loewen (6-3) 95-67 on Saturday. It was a key game for the second position in Group North. The game without a history. Hertener Loewen led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Dorsten's 36. American players dominated the game. It was a very good performance for forward Ryan Daugherty (193-87, college: Kennesaw St.) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 6 assists. Forward Josh Taylor (201-87, college: E.Kentucky) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Daugherty is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Hertener Loewen players scored in double figures. Guard Terry Bryant (186-85, college: SE Louisiana) replied with 22 points and center Blake Poole (195-88, college: St.Martin's, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) added 10 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Dorsten. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hertener Loewen moved-up to second place in Group North, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Dorsten. Hertener Loewen will face SG Schwelmer Baskets (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Dorsten will play against ALBA Berlin II (#11).
