Regular Season Round 5: Olivais - CDTorres N. 73-67

Bottom-ranked CDTorres N. (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 73-67 loss to eighth ranked Olivais (3-2) in Coimbra on Saturday evening. CDTorres N. was trailing by 6 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 20-10 charge of Olivais, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 19 CDTorres N. turnovers. Strangely CDTorres N. outrebounded Olivais 42-28 including a 21-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Ana Fonseca (168-78) who scored 21 points and 7 rebounds. Power forward Maria Joao Andrade (186-92) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Stephany Neptune (175-87, college: S.Illinois) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 17 rebounds and the other American import power forward Tonya Young (187, college: Vermont) added 21 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four CDTorres N. players scored in double figures. Olivais moved-up to fourth place, which they share with GDESSA. CDTorres N. lost their third game in a row. They still closes the standings with five games lost. Olivais will face higher ranked Alges (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. CDTorres N. will play against the league's leader AD Vagos (#1) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
