Regular Season Round 6: Siauliai - Rudupis 98-86

Undefeated Rudupis (5-1) recorded its first loss on the court of first ranked Siauliai. Visitors were defeated by Siauliai 98-86. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Rudupis. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Siauliai. Rudupis was better in third quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Siauliai players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Guard Edvinas Ruzgas (198-87, college: TCU) scored 23 points to lead the charge for the winners and center Vytautas Sarakauskas (204-82) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) during the contest. Five Siauliai players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Povilas Butkevicius (203-87) with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds and the former international forward Dainius Salenga (197-77) scored 17 points and 5 assists. Siauliai (6-1) have an impressive six-game winning streak. Despite that victory Siauliai went down to second position due to points difference. Rudupis at the other side dropped to the third place with one game lost. Siauliai will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Rudupis will play at home against Pieno Zvaigzdes in Pasvalys and hopes to get back on the winning track.
