Regular Season Round 10: Azovmash - Ferro-ZNTU 94-80

Rather expected game when 5th ranked Ferro-ZNTU (6-4) lost to third ranked Azovmash (8-2) in Mariupol 80-94. The game was mostly controlled by Azovmash. Ferro-ZNTU was better in third quarter 28-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Azovmash players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The former international center Oleksiy Pecherov (213-85) fired a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American swingman Ricky Minard (196-82, college: Morehead St.) chipped in 24 points and 6 rebounds. Four Azovmash players scored in double figures. Azovmash's coach Aco Petrovic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American center R.T. Guinn (208-81, college: Baylor) produced 29 points and his fellow American import guard Randy Culpepper (182-89, college: UTEP) added 23 points respectively for lost side. Azovmash have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Ferro-ZNTU at the other side dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Azovmash's next round opponent will be Dnipro (#9) in Dnepropetrovsk and are hoping to win another game. Ferro-ZNTU will play at home against the league's leader Budivelnyk in Kyiv.
