Very important is a road loss of third ranked USC Heidelberg (5-3) against seventh ranked Gloria Giants (5-3) on Wednesday night. Visiting USC Heidelberg was defeated by Gloria Giants in a tough game in Duesseldorf 89-95. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of USC Heidelberg. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But USC Heidelberg won fourth quarter 36-33. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gloria Giants made 31-of-35 charity shots (88.6 percent) during the game. USC Heidelberg was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Aubrey Reese (183-78, college: Murray St., agency: Interperformances) nailed 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and American-Liberian forward Patrick Flomo (203-80, college: Ohio) accounted for 15 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Jerrell Williams (203-88, college: La Salle) came up with 14 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Oliver Komarek (210-86) added 20 points respectively for USC Heidelberg in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gloria Giants moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated USC Heidelberg. Gloria Giants will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. USC Heidelberg will play at home against Kirchheim Knights (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
