A very close game took place in Klaipeda between Mazeikiai and Nafta Universitetas. Fifteenth ranked Mazeikiai (4-7) got a very close victory on the road over higher ranked Nafta Universitetas (6-5). Mazeikiai managed to escape with a 3-point win 80-77 on Friday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Nafta Universitetas won third quarter 25-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Mazeikiai won last quarter 25-23. It was an exceptional evening for forward Janas Jurgo (200-83) who led the winners and scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Dainius Vaitelis (201-86) accounted for 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Four Mazeikiai players scored in double figures. Guard Evaldas Lengvinas (190-89) came up with 23 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and forward Dainius Zvinklys (202-90) added 17 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Nafta Universitetas in the defeat. Mazeikiai moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Silute and S.Marciulionio. Loser Nafta Universitetas keeps the seventh position with five games lost. They share it with Triobet. Mazeikiai will meet at home higher ranked Meresta (#11) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nafta Universitetas will play against Matinga-Juod. (#3) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
