Gelisim (#18) forced the game against Pamukkale (#9) into an overtime, but lost by six points 112-118 on Saturday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Gelisim won third quarter 21-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Gelisim used huge pressure winning it 18-13 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 25-31. Strangely Gelisim outrebounded Pamukkale 54-42 including a 20-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Gelisim was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Feyzi Celebioglu (-88) orchestrated the victory by scoring 30 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Guard Goekhan Senol (183-84) contributed with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Pamukkale's coach Firat Eser used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Sertay Gursu (195-87, agency: EM-PA) replied with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds and swingman Ozgun Onver (195-82) added 17 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Gelisim. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Pamukkale (4-3) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 6 other teams. Gelisim lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighteenth position with six games lost. Pamukkale will face Tire Gucu (#15) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gelisim will play against Pertevniyal in Istanbul and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
