Regular Season Round 4: Illiabum - Gaeirense 82-60

Very expected game in Ilhavo where 11th ranked Gaeirense (1-3) was crushed by top-ranked Illiabum (4-0) 82-60 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Illiabum. Gaeirense was better in third quarter 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Illiabum forced 20 Gaeirense turnovers and outrebounded them 41-27 including a 18-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Dain Swetalla (206-86, college: Augustana, IL) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds and American-Liberian forward Kadiri Richard (203-80, college: Virginia Union) who added 15 points and 14 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Illiabum players scored in double figures. At the losing side center Filipe Canha (202-80) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds and guard Rui Rochete (188-80) scored 14 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Illiabum have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Alges. Gaeirense lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the eighth place with three games lost. Illiabum will face league's leader Alges on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gaeirense will play against Sangalhos (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
