Important game to mention about took place in Zaporozhye. Seventh ranked Khimik (7-5) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 5th ranked Ferro-ZNTU (6-4) 87-85 on Saturday evening. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Khimik players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Forward Denis Ikovlev (201-86, college: Nevada, agency: RIZO) had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American power forward Aaron McGhee (203-79, college: Oklahoma) chipped in 19 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Khimik's coach Darko Russo allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side American center R.T. Guinn (208-81, college: Baylor) responded with 28 points and 9 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) and his fellow American import guard Randy Culpepper (182-89, college: UTEP) scored 24 points and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Khimik moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Hoverla. Ferro-ZNTU at the other side dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Khimik will play against Mykolaiv (#10) in Mykolaiv in the next round where they are favorite. Ferro-ZNTU will play at home against the league's leader Budivelnyk in Kyiv and hopes to get back on the winning track.
