Regular Season Round 5: Lusitania - Terceira 90-87

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Terceira Basket (2-1) in Angra on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by leader Lusitania (3-0) 90-87. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Terceira Basket. The hosts trailed by 19 points at the halftime before their 53-31 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. They outrebounded Terceira Basket 39-28 including 25 on the defensive glass. Forward Mohamed Camara (196-83) stepped up and scored 22 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners and American forward Brian Mills (203-88, college: Mercer, agency: Pro One Sports) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Nate Bowie (183-86, college: Cent.Arkansas) responded with 31 points (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and American-Canadian center Jonas Pierre (209-80, college: Lincoln, MO) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Lusitania have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 3-0 record having 2 victories less than leader Benfica, which they share with Porto Ferpinta. Newly promoted Terceira Basket keeps the fifth position with one game lost. They share it with Ovarense. Lusitania is looking forward to face CAB Madeira (#7) in Funchal in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Terceira Basket will play on the road against Barreirense CEPSA in Barreiro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
