Regular Season Round 8: Balikesir - Usak 75-66

There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Balikesir (3-4) defeated at home higher ranked Usak (4-3) 75-66 on Saturday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Balikesir outrebounded Usak 38-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. American forward Charles Jackson (203-87, college: Hawaii-Pacific, agency: Court Side) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Selaattin Akyol (180-86) contributed with 13 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals for the winners. American guard Dijuan Harris (175-86, college: Charlotte, agency: ARN Sports and Entertainment) replied with 14 points and 7 assists and Mirac Erol (-89) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Usak. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Balikesir moved-up to thirteenth place. Loser Usak dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Balikesir will face higher ranked Maliye Milli (#11) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
