Regular Season Round 9: Iasi - Rapid 54-63

Bottom-ranked Iasi (0-9) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their ninth consecutive match to thirteenth ranked Rapid (2-7) 63-54 on Saturday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Iasi won third quarter 14-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Rapid won last quarter 23-15. Rapid outrebounded Iasi 40-29 including 25 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was center Cristina Perta (187-78) who scored 19 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Ana Pavel (167-87) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Ceciley Johnson (188, college: W.Texas A&M) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import guard Danielle Walker (178-86, college: Clark Atlanta) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Rapid moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Olimpia. Iasi lost their ninth game in a row. They still closes the standings with nine games lost. Rapid's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Bucuresti Olimpia.
