Regular Season Round 8: TBB Trier - NY Phantoms 52-63

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked New Yorker Phantoms and 11th ranked TBB Trier had identical 3-4 record. But TBB Trier was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Braunschweig 63-52 on Sunday night. The game was mostly controlled by New Yorker Phantoms. TBB Trier was better in second period 15-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American power forward Rich Melzer (203-79, college: Wisc.-RiverFal., agency: Court Side) orchestrated the victory by scoring 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import center Kyle Visser (211-85, college: Wake Forest) contributed with 10 points for the winners. New Yorker Phantoms' coach Sebastian Machowski used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American point guard Dru Joyce (183-85, college: Akron) replied with 17 points and 5 assists and the former international center Maik Zirbes (205-90) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for TBB Trier. New Yorker Phantoms maintains ninth position with 4-4 record, which they share with EWE Baskets. TBB Trier at the other side keeps the eleventh place with five games lost. New Yorker Phantoms will face league's second-placed s Oliver Baskets in Wuerzburg in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
