The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked Antakya's (1-3) road loss to sixth ranked Fenerbahce (3-1) in Istanbul 63-94 on Sunday. The game without a history. Fenerbahce led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Antakya's 32. Fenerbahce forced 26 Antakya turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a very good performance for forward Angel McCoughtry (185-86, college: Louisville) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 5 rebounds (made all of her eight free throws). Australian forward Penny Taylor (185-81) contributed with 16 points and 4 assists for the winners. Fenerbahce's coach Georgios Dikaioulakos felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American center Jessica Moore (191-82, college: Connecticut) replied with 13 points and 5 rebounds and her fellow American import swingman Sheana Mosch (177-81, college: Duke) added 13 points in the effort for Antakya. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Antakya lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. Fenerbahce will face bottom-ranked Mersin (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Antakya will play against Optimum TED (#7) in Ankara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
