Regular Season Round 6: Besiktas - Erdemir 84-88

The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Besiktas (5-1) in Istanbul on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by eighth ranked Erdemir (4-2) 88-84. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Besiktas. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Besiktas won fourth quarter 27-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Besiktas 32-21 including a 26-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Erdemir looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American power forward KZell Wesson (201-77, college: La Salle) scored 22 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and guard Soner Senturk (194-86, agency: 1x1 Sports) chipped in 11 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists during the contest. Erdemir's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American point guard Deron Williams (191-84, college: Illinois) with 16 points and 8 assists and Serbian power forward Zoran Erceg (210-85) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Five Erdemir and four Besiktas players scored in double figures. Erdemir have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Fener.Ulker and Aliaga. Besiktas at the other side keeps the second position with one game lost. They share it with Turk Telekom and Galatasaray. Erdemir is looking forward to face higher ranked Turk Telekom (#4) in Ankara in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Besiktas will play on the road against Aliaga and is hoping to win this game.
