We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when sixth ranked TV 1862 Langen (6-4) won against at home 5th ranked Dragons Rhoendorf (5-4) 76-72 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Dragons Rhoendorf won third quarter 18-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when TV 1862 Langen won last quarter 22-20. The best player for the winners was American power forward Luke Fitzgerald (202-87, college: Cumberlands, agency: Duran International) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 20 rebounds. The other American import guard Nathan Drury (188-85, college: Carroll) chipped in 22 points. Fitzgerald is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four TV 1862 Langen players scored in double figures. TV 1862 Langen's coach Fabian Villmeter used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was Canadian guard Stuart Turnbull (188-84) who recorded 21 points and 4 steals and forward Florian Koch (197-92) added 20 points and 5 rebounds respectively. TV 1862 Langen have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place in Group South. Loser Dragons Rhoendorf dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. TV 1862 Langen will face TSV Troester (#9) in Breitenguessbach in the next round. Dragons Rhoendorf will play at home against Hanau and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
