Regular Season Round 10: Aviastar - Koksokh-Stal 92-70

There was no surprise in Zaporozhye where 7th ranked Koksokh-Stal (3-6) was crushed by fourth ranked Aviastar (6-3) 92-70. The game was mostly controlled by Aviastar. Koksokh-Stal was better in third quarter 22-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Aviastar dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Koksokh-Stal's 28. Aviastar forced 22 Koksokh-Stal turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Koksokh-Stal's players. The former international guard Vitaly Boyko (183-82) notched 23 points, 5 assists and 5 steals to lead the effort and center Olexandr Berhin (205-85) supported him with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Five Aviastar players scored in double figures. Coach Volodimir Sevastyanov's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 29 points and 4 assists by guard Pavlo Haylo (182-87) did not help to save the game for Koksokh-Stal. Swingman Boris Bereziuk (196-87) added 16 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Aviastar maintains fourth position with 6-3 record. Koksokh-Stal at the other side keeps the seventh place with six games lost. Aviastar's next round opponent will be again Koksokh-Stal (#7) in Alchevsk.
